Get Involved with Ozone House

Thank you for your interest in volunteering your time and talent at Ozone House! Volunteers are an integral part of our team. As a community-based organization we rely on the involvement of volunteers to meet the needs of youth and families in crisis.

There are many different and important ways that you can get involved at Ozone House. Whether you are interested in crisis intervention, or just want to help out around the house, we will try to work with you to develop a volunteer opportunity that will match your skills and interests.

To volunteer at Ozone House, please contact Michelle Jones at 734.662.2265 ext. 29 or via email at mjones@ozonehouse.org.

Crisis Line Volunteer
Ozone House is always seeking compassionate volunteers to become crisis line counselors. Crisis Line volunteers listen and provide critical information, referrals, and crisis intervention to high-risk youth and families struggling with such issues as family conflict, runaway episodes, homelessness, suicide, abuse and neglect, domestic violence, sexual orientation and gender identity, and other crises.

Crisis Line Counselors complete a 40-hour training on two Wednesday evenings and two consecutive weekends. Once completed, volunteers commit to one 4-hour shift per week for 5+ months.

Become a Crisis Line Volunteer! Here's How:

  1. Fill out the volunteer application. Return the application to Michelle Jones at Ozone House. You may do so by mail, email, or fax. Click the link above to download our volunteer application.
  2. Attend the volunteer orientation. Orientation is scheduled for three different dates: Tuesday, August 5th at 6:00pm; Wednesday, August 13th at 11:00am; and Thursday, August 21st at 3:00pm. Attendance is mandatory on one of these dates.
  3. Get invited to training. After the orientation, you may be invited to continue on to the crisis line training if Ozone House seems like the right fit for you.
  4. Get the training manual. Ozone House will supply bound manuals at a suggested donation of $10.
  5. Attend the volunteer trainings! All of the training dates are mandatory and required for you to be eligible to volunteer on the crisis line. The dates and times for Fall 2008 training are as follows:

Wednesday, September 10th                          6:00pm-9:00pm
Saturday, September 13th                               9:00am-5:00pm

Project Volunteer

Can't make the Crisis Counselor time commitment but have talent to share? Perhaps you're a professional painter or a landscape designer. We are often looking for volunteers to share their expertise for one-time projects. Contact Christine Krezel at ckrezel@ozonehouse.org or at 734-662-2265 ext. 11 to discuss potential opportunities!

Youth Making an Impact (YMI)

YMI is a youth volunteer group organized through Ozone House. We are dedicated to creating opportunities for youth to contribute to our community. We engage young people in service projects and through community activism. If you are under 18 and would like to participate in a Y.M.I. volunteer event, please have your parent or guardian fill out a YMI Parent Consent Form and bring it with you on the day of the event. To get involved with YMI events, contact Nikki Winningham at nwinningham@ozonehouse.org.

Volunteer Groups

If your school or organization would like to get involved at Ozone House, we encourage you to visit our Coordinate your Own Drive page. Occasionally there are larger scale projects for groups to participate in. When group projects become available, they will be posted on this page. Thank you!
