Thank You PJ Redbird Two Ravens

Recently, Ozone House received a generous estate gift from the late PJ Redbird Two Ravens. PJ selected Ozone House and three other organizations to evenly split the proceeds from the sale of his house after his passing in August of 2022. PJ’s Estate Manager, Robert “The Buffalo” Hughes, whom he has been friends with since the 1980s, coordinated this donation and also wanted to share a bit about PJ.

His obituary states, “PJ was an out and proud trans queer and sexual and gender outlaw all his life. He identified as a pagan hedonist and also strongly identified with his Native American heritage and traditions.” Also, “He is deeply loved by all whose lives he touched. Many people have credited him with saving their lives through his kindness, compassion, humor, advocacy, support, and grace.” Buffalo shared that PJ believed there are as many genders as there are people.

PJ got his MSW from Eastern Michigan University and was a counselor for many years before his congenital heart condition made work impossible. PJ was also a poet and artist and loved being in nature. He worked at the University of Michigan for over 30 years and volunteered with numerous community groups.

Ozone House would like to thank and honor PJ Redbird Two Ravens for being a fierce advocate in the community for so many years. His bequest donation will directly impact young people. These funds will continue to allow us to fulfill our mission to help young people lead safe, healthy, and productive lives through intensive intervention and prevention services. We also want to thank Robert “The Buffalo” Hughes and PJ’s estate for facilitating his last wishes.
